Not so much a balance

I slept poorly again last night and I have spent the day (so far) puttering around trying to strike a balance between taking things easy and pushing myself to do stuff in the hope I will feel less off-kilter.

So far, neither has worked so I am either not resting enough or not working hard enough.

The experiment continues.

Happy Anniversary To Us

Himself and I have been married for 28 years today and the weather today is lovely, just like it was on that fantastic day.

To say I feel lucky to have him doesn’t even begin to describe how good it is to be married to my husband.

He truly makes everything easier and he makes things better just by being at my side.

Today is a celebration of one of the biggest blessings in my life.

It must be bunnies

Ok, just one cute bunny that I saw in a local green space yesterday.

Time and Containers

I have been giving some more thought to the fact that I need to have a certain amount of things done in order to rest properly.

As I mentioned before, it’s not about having to earn my rest, it’s about making sure that thoughts of tasks undone don’t disturb my rest. it’s about having reached a point with the tasks that I can put them aside without them coming to mind while I’m trying to do something else.

The problem is, of course that it’s hard to find that line unless the task is completely done.

I can sometimes accomplish it if I think in advance about what ‘done’ looks like for today but while that is extremely helpful (thanks, Jennifer Louden!) it doesn’t always help me keep the tasks in their proper container.

I know that part of the issue is that I can’t always be sure that I have done the highest priority tasks or that I’ve done the ones that need to be done within a certain period of time. At this level of medication and experience, I am much better at identifying the high priority tasks, but not as good as I’d like to be.

I guess it’s just going to take more practice.

And now that I’ve actually figured out what the issue is, I’m hoping that I can build better solutions, organize my time in a way that makes me happier, and keep my work in its proper containers. ?

Notebook stickers

My notebook makes me happy every time I see it.

Here’s why:

The stickers are a stack of books with a tea cup on top, a shiny pink cartoon octopus, three gold stars, an orange gecko, a key, a flacon of green liquid, a stamp-shaped sticker that says ‘Adventure is Waiting’ and a black and white sun with a face on it and spindly rays coming off of it.
