Tiny Writing Goal

Despite my best efforts, I am not writing a lot of fiction lately.

And since I coach people in this stuff all the time I know what to do.

Pick a specific thing and a specific time and keep the bar low.

So at 8:45 tomorrow morning, I will spend 5 minutes working on a piece of flash fiction.

And then I will set a goal for Tuesday.

Let’s see how this goes!

Relaxing creativity

I taught my favourite workshop today.

It’s all about doing very small, very flexible, creative projects and trying not to worry about getting them ‘wrong.’

I just love watching everyone ease into the projects, finding their way into the process and getting comfortable.

And I really hope that they can take those few practices and find ways to play with their creativity here and there without getting caught up in trying to be ‘good.’

Drawing practice

A cartoon drawing of me from the waist up. My drawing has chin length hair and glasses and my shoulders are hiked up by my ears and I have an unhappy expression on my face.

Persistence

Today is one of those days when it takes all my effort to put one foot in front of the other.

Some sort of combination of migraine and poor sleep has left me feeling thick and meh.

I do not recommend this feeling.

Pretend Spring

Winter is pulling a fast one on us.

It’s spring-like out today, around 10 degrees Celsius and the snow is receding.

But it’s only February so I know there is more snow to come.

A dame can hope though, right?

A photo of my back patio, parts of which are snow-free thanks to a combination of my husband’s shovelling efforts and some warmer weather. Yes, I do still have a wreath hanging on my patio railing. It was too pretty to throw out after Xmas so I hung it there for my own amusement.
