Story card fun

I had the very best time teaching some grade 4s to make story prompt cards today.

And I got to tell them the story of Stingy Jack – one of the legends that explains why we carve Jack O’Lanterns – and watch as they all caught on to the references.

I love telling stories and helping kids learn about storytelling.

I took a drawing class today!

This is a busy week and I have a lot to do but I stuck with my plan to take a drawing class.

And I actually managed to focus instead of letting my mind hop over to the other things I had to do.

I’m really patting myself on the back about that.

Oh, good news!

My comic is going to be published in a Zine!

I am beyond excited about it.

I sent my comic into someone who doesn’t know me, doesn’t have any context for my work, and it stood on its own merit and will be included in the Zine.

It’s not that I am putting myself down and I definitely don’t think poorly of my work, it’s just really cool to know that you can ‘get’ my work without even knowing me.

🙂

Water? What?

For the longest time, I was drinking lots of water every day and it felt great.

At some point, I got out of the habit of filling my water bottle in the morning and since then I haven’t been getting enough water every day.

I can tell by how I feel, how I’m sleeping, how thirsty I am in the middle of the night.

But my brain has been doing its thing – hiding that info from me until the middle of the night when I can’t do anything about it.

Today though?

Today I remembered in the morning.

I’m calling this a victory.

Saturday Shenanigans

I spend a good part of the day helping out with a haunted house.

I hate jump scares so I wasn’t one of the actors inside but I was helping with the crowd waiting to go in.

It’s funny how many people love getting scared – even little kids.

And even funnier?

The people who act like they enjoy being scared but actually don’t like it at all.

Their whole bravado act cracks me up.
