Third Thursday in a row

For the last two weeks I have had a migraine on Thursday.

Last night, I slept oddly and I feel a bit off and there’s a bit of pressure in my head.

Today, and the last two Thursdays, we’ve had odd weather so there’s that.

But I also wonder what I could be doing in the first few days of the week that might be triggering a migraine.

And, of course, I’m hoping that the pressure I’m feeling right now just goes away.

I’d rather not have a migraine.

Cold day, warm memory

It snowed overnight and now there is freezing rain failing.

When I went downstairs this morning, I had a sudden recollection of a time with weather like this when I was in elementary school and I was hoping for a snow day.

I went downstairs relatively early and my Dad was in the kitchen listening to the radio a bit too loud. It was on VOCM, of course, because that was the school report station – at least as far as we were concerned.

I don’t remember any specifics of whether that was a snow day and, in fact, I don’t know if I am remembering one individual day or ‘what snowy days were like’ but what I do remember is how good it felt to have that little bit of extra time with my Daddy and the little bit of anticipation of a possible day off school.

It’s great that these memories pop up but I wish I could tell Dad about them. ?

Changing How My To Do List Feels

I have been using Todoist for the better part of a year now and it’s been terrific for helping me keep track of a lot of my tasks but I’m not using it in the best way for me.

My to do lists still feel too crowded and I find myself delaying certain tasks over and over – which is fine, really, but I am finding it a bit tiresome.

I’m still working on a solution for the task delays but I think I have a solution for the crowding.

Because my to do list is a combination of personal, volunteer, and work information and tasks, there are a lot of bits and pieces to check off every day.

Just in my personal list alone there are about 5-8 things that I try to do every day.

And that really adds up.

So, step 1 in reducing overcrowding on my list is to combine my list of personal recurring tasks into one task called ‘routine.’

By doing that, I can change how my list feels for me. Instead of 22 tasks, I’ll have 14.

I’ll still do all my daily personal things (write a post here, do some journaling) but they won’t be part of the big number in the corner of my app.

I think this will help.

Let’s see how it goes!

Another gold star

As you know, I like drawing gold stars.

I was particularly pleased with how this one turned out.

Sometimes I decided to draw something because an idea flashes into my head and that’s how this one started.

My vision didn’t look like this though.

In my mind, the lines were forming triangles within one another. As in, lines extending from two points of the star would form a large triangle with the edge of the paper and then a smaller triangle would be within that one and another smaller one would be within that.

But I made a mistake with my first two lines and changed my plan in response.

I’m happy with where the mistake led me.

Sunrise

When the sun came up this morning it turned the foggy sky pink.
