I love picking up where I left off

Tonight we met with some friends we haven’t seen in at least 8 years and it was just like we had seen them yesterday.

I love when friendships are like that, just paused for when you can pick them up again.

I know that some people experience friendship degradation – friendships that deteriorate over time – but for me, unless we weren’t getting along on the first place, my friendships are just waiting for the time we can restart them.

These tiny flowers make me happy

I’m not sure what they are.

They might even been strawberry plants.

I just think they are swell.

Small white flowers with yellow centres sit amongst large green leaves with jagged edges? surrounded by grass.

Idea Generation

So I have been telling people for ages that I love brainstorming and that’s true but I think the part of brainstorming that I really crave is the idea generation.

Especially if things are pretty open-ended, just a few parameters than you can jump off from and go madly off in all directions.

I like seeing how things fit together in new ways, seeing how old things can be used differently, how thanks can be multipurpose.

Brainstorming a solution for a specific thing is fun but letting ideas gallop is the most exciting part.

I can always get back to reality later, I don’t stay in that fantasy space.

I sure like to visit though.

Putting a story together

Last night I have the privilege of joining a choir, a violinist, and an opera singer as part of a themed show about stories.

I was quite nervous.

Not about telling stories, per se. I mean, I still get a little nervous about that every time but this wasn’t regular nerves.

My story was being interspersed between other performances so I was dividing it into 3 sections. It was my choice to do so but I had never done that with a story before so it was a new experience.

Was I going to choose the right points to stop?

Could I bring them quickly back to my story when I took the stage again?

Would *I* be able to jump back into the mood of the story quickly?

Would the audience make the connections I needed them to make to earlier parts of the story?

This wasn’t overthinking (for a change!)

These were all valid things for me to consider, things I needed to work around or overcome in order for the story to work.

And I’m happy to say that I made the right choices and things came together marvellously.

It bodes well for my planned story show later in the year.
