Saturday Six : a list

Six songs I love:

Charming Disaster’s Baba Yaga – I love the rhythm and the storytelling here.
Elle King’s Exs & Ohs – the song is super fun (I hadn’t seen the video before this.)
I have loved Funkytown by Lipps Inc since I was a kid. It’s my ringtone!
The Cure’s Friday I’m In Love – I had this on a ‘cassingle.’
Holly Cole’s Make It Go Away – I had this CD on constantly while working on my Master’s thesis.
Fiona Apple’s Extraordinary Machine – The lyrics hit me hard every single time I hear it.

A short list

Things that are helping me to feel better these days:

1. Writing posts about my grief on the blog at Fit is a Feminist Issue – post 1 and post 2

2. Following through on the items on my Todoist list. Following through might mean doing them (at the very least there are 5 or 6 personal items I have done daily), it might mean delegating them, or it might mean rescheduling them. Either way, looking at my lists keeps the days from blending into one another.

3. Walking the dog

4. Talking to friends – whether we talk about what’s in my head or what’s in theirs, it’s all good.

5. Accepting that some days will be trickier than others and that’s just how these things go.

Saturday Six for April 15, 2023

Six things I enjoyed this week:

1) Listening the audio book of Anne Cleeves’ The Heron’s Cry

2) Getting to hang out with my dear friend Mary three separate times

3) Leading a writing encouragement session

4) Leading a storytelling session

5) Taking morning walks (for a change!) with Khalee

6) Getting some future plans sorted for my volunteer organizations.

All good things, all worthwhile things, and I’d like to say more about each one but I am just too damn tired to be chatty.

Saturday Six for April 1, 2023

I’m going to post every day in April just to see how I like it. Expect to see a fair number of lists. 😉

Here are 6 things I enjoyed this week:

1) Being able to walk in sneakers instead of boots:

A top down view of the author’s light purple sneakers as she stands on her street.
The fact that my shadow makes it seem that I have one giant leg is cracking me up here. Image description: a top down photo of my feet (in light purple sneakers) and the bottom of my legs (in black leggings) as I stand on some salt-speckled asphalt. My shadow extends up and to the left.

2) Feeling like my projects and ideas were organized. (Thanks for working the way my brain works, Todoist!)

3) Telling stories and teaching storytelling to a group of my Mom’s friends.. (We had a GREAT time!)

4) Finishing a big section of one of my current work projects. (Hurrah for working in short sessions! Perseverance for the win!)

5) Three sunny days this week. (Temperatures above freezing! Yay!)

6) Buying paint to get started on the living room. (I’ve been trying to get around to that for AGES.)
